Electrolytic Nickel
Techmetals' electrolytic nickel process provides the highest level possible of a pure nickel coating. Advanced solution control techniques, in conjunction with the state-of-the-art equipment, delivers a superior quality coating. Applications requiring thicknesses up to .250" can be achieved under the most stringent plating specifications. Although this highly corrosion resistant deposit is usually used on small simple parts requiring less than .005 thickness, Techmetals has the capacity to handle components up to 10 feet long and weighing up to 10,000 pounds. Using our insuitue process, we have plated parts upto 25,000 lbs. All parts receive the same detail in quality and workmanship.

Engineering applications of the coating are to improve or modify surface properties including corrosion resistance, magnetism and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures. Maintaining consistent quality control parameters over the plating process allows for the lowest possible stress in the deposit. This Union Carbide or Westing House type Nickel deposit structure delivers a soft, ductile and machineable coating of only 10 to 18 Rockwell C.

This pure nickel deposit is free of stress cracks, which normally occur in many electrolytic nickel deposits, giving it a superior corrosion resistance which is ideal for the nuclear, chemical, paper, textile, printing, electronic and caustic processing industries. This coating also meets Union Carbide's JS1396 and Westing House nuclear specification. Electrolytic nickel is often used for repairs requiring heavy buildups in excess of 1/8" thick.
