Techmetals provides hard chrome and salvage plating technology, quality, service,
and cost advantages to manufacturers. Capacities include hard chrome plating on
small parts and on parts up to 10,000 pounds to exact specifications, with the same
attention to one part or thousands of pieces. This service includes a complete polishing
department for molds, dies, rolls, and screws. Techmetals long experience and tooling
background have helped to develop masking techniques which eliminate costly plating
splash-over on machine surfaces not requiring hard chrome. We've also developed
salvage coatings comparable to hard chrome that are more readily machineable and
deposit at extremely quick rates. These accomplishments enable us to provide our
customers with the best possible service at the lowest overall cost - Ask our engineers

Techmetals is one of the largest platers in the world specializing in quality
electroless nickel and is recognized as an industry leader. We do virtually every
type of electroless nickel plating, from the most corrosion-resistant, high phosphorous
coatings to teflon-nickel and other co-deposits. We handle one or one million pieces
weighing up to 10,000 pounds, with tanks up to 10 feet deep, barrel or rack plating.
Our state-of-the-art facilities offer complete metallurgical back-up. We know the
best plating specifications and will stand behind the results.
This coating covers even the most complex shapes uniformly. Deposits exhibit superior
corrosion resistance and are often used as reduced-cost replacements for stainless
steel. Electroless nickel's high lubricity makes it ideal for molding applications.
Electroless nickel is an alloy coating available in many different formulations.
It exhibits a wide range of characteristics, making the choice of suppliers and
specifications critical.
From the formulation of the finest plating solutions to in process quality control,
it takes the finest technology and resources to maintain consistent quality. Techmetals
combines technology and resources to handle challenges and solve problems with an
understanding and sensitivity to customers' needs.

Valves used in heavy corrosion applications for the chemical and oil industries
require a uniform coating of high phosphorous electroless nickel to increase the
parts life significantly.

Techmetal - 103 A high phosphorous
electroless nickel free of heavy metal contaminants. Highly suitable for the food
industry as well as critcal tooling requiring the ultimate in corrosion resistance.
Techmetal - 104 This electroless nickel deposit was developed for jobs that
must meet standard electroless nickel specifications while maintaining a bright
attractive appearance.
Techmetal - 127 The low phosphorous content of this coating brings many unique
properties to the end user. An as plated hardness of 60 Rockwell C makes this an
ideal coating for aluminum and "even-tempered" alloys requiring a hard surface with
no heat treatment. This deposit also exhibits a higher thermal resistance than other
electroless nickels and is solderable. Applications Uses: Aerospace, Defense, Foundry,
Automotive, and Chemical Industries.
Techmetal - 133 A boron electroless
nickel with low stress and high hardness used in the electronic industry for its
solderability, weldability and high melting point. Applications include lead frames
and relay contractors, however, uses are limited due to cost factors.

Techmetals' electrolytic nickel process provides the highest level possible
of a pure nickel coating. Advanced solution control techniques, in conjunction with state-of-the-art equipment, deliver a superior quality coating. Applications
requiring thicknesses up to .250" can be achieved under the most stringent plating
specifications. Although this highly corrosion resistant deposit is usually used
on small simple parts requiring less than .005 thickness, Techmetals has the capacity
to handle components up to 10 feet long and weighing up to 10,000 pounds. Using
our in-situ process, we have plated parts upto 25,000 lbs. All parts receive the
same detail in quality and workmanship. |
 |
Engineering applications of the coating are to improve or modify surface properties
including corrosion resistance, magnetism, and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures.
Maintaining consistent quality control parameters over the plating process allow
for the lowest possible stress in the deposit. This Union Carbide or WestingHouse
type Nickel deposit structure delivers
a soft, ductile, and machineable coating of only 10 to 18 Rockwell C.
This pure nickel deposit is free of stress cracks, which normally occur in many
electrolytic nickel deposits.This allows
for superior corrosion resistance, which is
ideal for the nuclear, chemical, paper, textile, printing, electronic, and caustic
processing industries. This coating also meets Union Carbide's JS1396 and WestingHouse
nuclear specification.

Techmetal - 123
An amorphous nickel coating approximately 14% phosphorus. In some applications
this coating has superior corrosion resistance to electroless
nickel. It can be
plated to thicknesses of .250 or more for salvage. It is best suited for simple
shapes, such as flats and diameters as well as a coating for diamond turning applications.
It offers superior corrosion resistance, increased wear life, and good lubricity
at a reduced cost. Easily co-deposited with diamond, silicon carbide or teflon for
additional wear and release.
Techmetals - 125
An electrolytic amorphous cobalt coating, 14% phosphorous. This coating
combines the hardness of hard chrome and the corrosion resistance of electroless
nickel into one coating. It can be plated to thicknesses greater than 250. Its hardness
is 64 Rockwell C, and can be heat treated to 70 Rockwell C. It exhibits better corrosion
to some materials, such as nitrites, and has replaced stellite in some applications.
If high hardness and corrosion resistance are needed in one coating, Techmetal 125
is the answer.
Techmetal - 131
electrolytic nickel deposit of the purest nickel providing a soft ductile
coating of only < 225 vickers hardness. Outstanding corrosion resistance, solderability,
magnetic characteristics, and resists oxidation at high temperatures. Coating thickness of up to 250” can be obtained. Techmetals can handle small or large parts with 5
ton crane capacity and tanks up to 10 ft. in depth are available. Engineering applications
in the nuclear, textile, printing, petroleum, and electronics industries are widely
accepted. Techmetal 131 coating is ideal where a pure, stress free, machinable and
very corrosion resistant deposit is required.
